Objectives: This study aims to achieve a general objective, which is to determine the nature of the correlational relationship between working memory and morphological awareness. From this main objective stem several sub-goals: first, to examine whether there is a statistically significant correlation between working memory and morphological knowledge (inflection), working memory and morphological knowledge (derivation), and working memory and morphological knowledge in relation to pseudoword derivation through knowledge of patterns and templates; second, to identify the nature of the influence of working memory on morphological awareness by analyzing the results of these correlational relationships. Methodology: The researchers applied a set of tests that form part of a broader battery within an international collaborative project involving Morocco, Canada, Switzerland, and France. This battery consists of eleven tests distributed across morphological awareness, reading comprehension, non-verbal intelligence, and working memory. The battery was adapted to the specificities of the Moroccan educational context and administered to a sample of 100 fourth-grade primary school pupils, equally divided between boys and girls, enrolled at Oulad Tayeb Al Olya Primary School in Fez. The purpose was to determine the relationship between morphological awareness and reading comprehension. Within this broader international project, we chose to focus in this paper on the relationship between working memory and certain components of morphological awareness, and its effect on them within the sample. To achieve the objectives of this research, the descriptive- analytical method was employed. Results: The findings revealed statistically significant correlations between working memory and the components of morphological awareness (morphological knowledge of inflection, derivation, and pseudowords through knowledge of patterns and templates). The results further confirmed the influence of working memory on morphological awareness. Conclusion: The study’s tests demonstrated that understanding the relationship between working memory and the components of morphological awareness, as well as recognizing how this relationship manifests, can provide a sound foundation for designing curricula and educational programs. It also helps establish appropriate and effective strategies within school textbooks, in line with cognitive-linguistic approaches, in order to foster stronger morphological awareness and healthy memory development among primary school pupils in Moroccan schools.

This study investigates the role of conventionalization and cultural identity in Moroccan advertising discourse. By analyzing a selected corpus of advertisements in two key sectors— food products and mobile phone operators—we aim to uncover how advertisers use linguistic choices and cultural signs to engage Moroccan audiences. The research addresses the following central questions: How do these advertisers communicate with the Moroccan public through the selected commercials? And what cultural references or signs do they employ to construct a relatable and persuasive message? To answer these questions, we adopt a multidisciplinary approach combining linguistic and sociocultural analysis. Our findings highlight the interplay between language, culture, and conventional norms, demonstrating how advertising discourse both reflects and reinforces shared cultural identities in Morocco.

The impact of digital technology on education has generated significant interest due to its influence on the quality of teaching and learning. The integration of educational technologies enhances pedagogy and enables learners to better construct and apply their knowledge. The use of ICT not only increases student motivation but also prompts educators to adapt their teaching strategies. However, despite these advantages, poor implementation of technology can lead to negative outcomes. The introduction of digital tools has transformed the teacher's role—from being the sole transmitter of knowledge to acting as a facilitator who guides students in searching for, evaluating, and communicating information. This shift raises important questions: How is the teacher's role redefined by digital tools? How can knowledge be effectively transmitted when information is readily accessible online? To explore these issues, an empirical, qualitative case study was conducted, focusing on the tools teachers use and the challenges they encounter in a digital learning environment.

This study examines the syllabic structure of instructional vocabulary found in the first volume of Al-Kitaab fii Taʿallum al-ʿArabiyya, one of the most widely adopted textbooks for teaching Arabic as a foreign language. The main objective is to explore how the book presents syllable patterns over the course of its lessons and whether it reflects a pedagogical progression in phonological complexity that supports learners’ gradual acquisition of Arabic sounds. Grounded in the principles of Arabic syllable phonology, the study employs a quantitative and applied linguistic approach to classify vocabulary items into syllabic patterns such as CV, CVC, CVV, and CVVC. A manually curated corpus was compiled from the lesson texts and vocabulary sections of the textbook, and each word was analyzed for its syllabic structure based on standard Arabic phonotactic rules. The frequency and distribution of each pattern were recorded and compared across lessons to detect trends and shifts in structural complexity. The analysis revealed that while the book generally follows a pattern of progressive syllabic difficulty, certain complex forms (e.g., CVCC) appear early, potentially posing pronunciation challenges for beginning learners. The significance of this study lies in its ability to offer measurable linguistic insights into how Arabic is presented in foundational language curricula. By identifying prevalent and challenging syllabic forms, this research provides educators with practical data to inform pronunciation instruction and material design. Moreover, it supports the integration of syllabic awareness into teaching strategies, particularly in early-stage language learning. The study concludes with pedagogical recommendations, including the sequencing of vocabulary based on syllabic simplicity, the design of targeted oral exercises, and the use of syllable analysis in curriculum development for Arabic as a second or foreign language. This contribution adds to the field of applied linguistics by bridging phonological analysis with educational practice.

This study aims to determine the nature of the correlational relationship between morphological awareness and vocabulary knowledge. Its sub-objectives are firstly, to verify the existence of a statistically significant correlation between the components of morphological awareness and the dimensions of vocabulary knowledge, and secondly, to identify the nature of the impact of morphological awareness on learners' vocabulary size. The researchers administered a test kit consisting of three main tests for morphological awareness and three other tests for the dimensions of vocabulary knowledge. This was done to measure the interactive relationship between morphological awareness and its impact on developing the vocabulary size of third-year preparatory school students. A descriptive approach was used to achieve the research objectives. The results of the study showed statistically significant correlations between the components of morphological awareness and the dimensions of vocabulary knowledge among learners. The findings also emphasized the effective role that morphological awareness, in its various forms, plays in developing and enhancing learners' vocabulary size. The study tests revealed that understanding the established relationship between the components of morphological awareness and the dimensions of vocabulary knowledge, along with realizing their relationships and manifestations, can provide a correct direction for formulating educational curricula and programs. This understanding can also inform the building of appropriate and sound foundations and strategies for the educational content adopted in school books, in a manner consistent with cognitive linguistic strategies to enhance the vocabulary size of preparatory school students.
