The municipality of Kénitra enjoys a privileged geographical position, and has diversified potentialities which contribute to the dynamism of the population and the economic activities. However, such dynamism has led to changes in lifestyles in terms of production and consumption, with irreversible degradation of air quality. In addition to mobile sources constituted by the transport sector, stationary sources (thermal energy production, industry, etc.) represent a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions in the air, and hence the prevalence of respiratory disorders and cardiovascular disease in the population. In order to remedy this worrying situation, a series of measures covering several sectors have been taken by the concerned institutions. However, despite the paid efforts, air pollution in the city of Kenitra continues to increase because of certain constraints noted in terms of the implementation of projects aimed at reducing air pollutant emissions. Without any doubt, it is undeniable that adequate management of air quality cannot be considered without adopting an eco-systemic approach, anxious to integrate the environmental dimension into any strategic choice. Likewise, the participation of territorial actors in decision-making processes is also recognized as a key process for ensuring a clean and healthy environment.
