The palm is the most important component of the oasis system, and the basic pillar of the oasis economy, in addition to the important environmental role of being a natural barrier to the encroachment of desertification. Moreover, the palm contributes to creating a local climate, which plays a protective role for the rest of the types of vegetation cover and the cultivations that accompany it. This study attempts to monitor the various interventions of actors to value the dates sector in the middle Daraa oases, beginning with the establishment of the “Zagora Dates Company” to the ambitious goals of the Green Morocco Plan, in addition to highlighting the potential provided by these areas in terms of production quantities and types of dates spread in them, and also by employing the descriptive analytical method and the field form technique, it was possible to identify the various constraints which stand as an obstacle to the development of the palm sector. The study has concluded that the fragility of the natural environment, the weakness of the actors’ interventions and their lack of effectiveness in overcoming the structural imbalances facing the dates sector, is constituting the most important constraints facing the process of valuing dates in the middle Daraa , as a result of dealing with the oasis system with an approach that did not take into consideration the peculiarities of this fragile field, especially the coercion to manage the scarcity of water resources and the small size of the exploitations.
